Stryker on Strike

Stryker on Strike: A Rescue Dog Explains the Hollywood Labor Movement is a picture book for middle-grade students featuring stunning images from the picket lines as well as interviews with union leaders, strike heroes and celebrity supporters. Produced in partnership with the unions, a portion of the sales will support educational programs for young writers and the Animal Rescue Mission.

Stryker was rescued from the Downey Animal Shelter after being listed as a "final notice." Through a network of animal advocates, volunteers from The Animal Rescue Mission found Stryker and connected him with a foster home. After only two weeks, he was permanently adopted by his foster mom and has been living his best life in his forever home.  

Stryker on Strike is being written by Elden Rhoads, who walked the picket lines from the first day of the Writers' Strike. Midway through the summer, she rescued Stryker and named him in honor of all the union members out on strike. A passionate advocate for workers, she believes the current labor movement will shape future generations and wants to educate tomorrow's leaders.
